The School of Nursing has a self-managed online application. 

Applicants to degree programs are required to assemble and submit a complete application to the Admissions Office by midnight of the deadline. Applicants interested in registering for a non-matriculated course need to register using a different application process.

Only those completed application files received by the deadline will be considered for admission. Applications that are received after a deadline or that are incomplete may be rolled over to the next appropriate deadline by applicant request.

Yes, students often enroll in a course as a non-matriculated student to get a feel for the program before officially applying. For more information and courses related to your program of interest please visit the Non-Matriculated Courses page.

Many of our programs require clinical experience and/or licensure, especially those at the graduate level, but not all do. For instance, our Accelerated Bachelor’s program does not require any previous clinical experience, and our Leadership in Health Care Systems program (MS) requires only one year of experience in the health care industry, not necessarily from a clinical discipline. Please refer to specific eligibility and program requirements for your program of interest.

Official materials are documents or materials that are produced and sent directly to the UR School of Nursing or through our application platform by an official source.

For instance, official transcripts include the seal and signature of the registrar's office, and must be sent directly from the original institution either as a physical transcript in a sealed envelope, or as an electronic file emailed directly from the school. Official references must be received directly from the reference writer through our application system. While some applicants choose to submit their online application and materials at the same time, you may submit your application and materials in any order, and at any time, before the deadline. Materials can be sent following the submission of your application; however, your application file will not be considered complete until both your online application and all required materials are received.

Please keep in mind that the program deadline signifies both the date by which to submit your application, as well as to submit all of your required supplemental materials.

After you submit your online application, you will be able to view your applicant portal and access details regarding the status of your file. From your applicant portal, you will be able to directly upload select materials, such as your resume or writing sample (if applicable), and see which materials we have received or are still awaiting.
