Bio

Susan Nickason brings 20 years of nursing experience as an instructor of clinical nursing at the University of Rochester School of Nursing. Nickason began her role in Summer 2021 and teaches in the School’s Accelerated Nursing and RN to BS programs. She teaches the following courses:

Nickason was a senior nurse manager at Hillside Children’s Center, among other roles, where she led daily operations and nursing care for the underserved, youth in the juvenile justice system, and persons with development disabilities. In addition to behavioral health, she also has experience in pediatric and adult nursing, specifically in pediatric hematology/oncology and adult oncology. She earned an associate’s degree from Monroe Community College and her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing education degree from the University of Rochester.


Current Focus

I have always wanted to teach nursing after being inspired by those who have taught me. My past nurse manager role will allow me to share knowledge from a leadership perspective with students. I hope to make an impact on students by teaching them to be trauma-informed nurses.
