NSG 338 - Information Technology for Healthcare

Prerequisite:

Basic computer skills (e.g., online searching, familiarity with Microsoft Office,emailing) or completion of an introductory computer course approved by the instructor. Access to a personal computer and the internet is required.

Description:

The goal of this course is to equip the student with an understanding of the underpinnings of the technology. We will cover the basic principles associated with computer information systems and will illustrate and apply them in the context of healthcare and healthcare education applications. We will use the personal computer as a learning model and extrapolate unto broader technologies and applications that impact the clinical and administrative delivery of healthcare, as well as healthcare education and research.
