NLX 486 - Leadership Capstone

4 credits ( 2 didactic credits / 2 field placement credits )

Description:

This final summative course in the interdisciplinary Leadership program focuses on demonstration of healthcare leadership competencies through the design, implementation, or evaluation of an evidence-based practice change, quality improvement initiative, or innovation project at the unit, service, department, organization, or community level.  Students explore the collaborative role of the health care leader in achieving an organization’s mission and vision by applying innovative, evidence-based solutions to healthcare challenges during this capstone course. The capstone project provides a collaborative learning experience in which students work with a leadership preceptor and a School of Nursing faculty mentor.  Students demonstrate their learning in both project and seminar aspects of this course from theoretical, philosophical, and experiential perspectives.
