NLX 417 - Teaching and Learning in Nursing

This course provides an introduction to principles of teaching and learning in nursing education.  Framed by the National League for Nursing’s Competencies for Nurse Educators, this course explores major theoretical perspectives in nursing education and how this body of knowledge can be used to guide educational policies and practices in nursing education to promote student learning and development.  Emphasis is on examining evidence in nursing education that supports and promotes a culture of active teaching and learning practices, learner development and socialization, and mentoring a diverse learner population in classroom and clinical settings.
