The overriding philosophy of the School of Nursing is the unification of education, research, and practice. We pioneered this approach about thirty years ago and it is now a model for other nursing programs across North America.
The unification model connects the classroom to real-world experience. It merges the acquisition of academic knowledge and applied knowledge into a cohesive whole. Each element of our curriculum fosters the development of knowledge, skills and professional attitudes and behaviors.
Active student learning enhances critical thinking skills and produces lifelong learners. Integration of research and evidence-based science demonstrates the critical link between scientific discovery and improved health and quality of life outcomes.
Our students emerge from our programs uniquely prepared to care for patients, to do clinical research and translate those research results into the most effective patient care practices.
