ABPNN Prerequisite Courses

Prerequisites for the ABPNN Program are:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Microbiology
  • Nutrition
  • Human Growth and Development (also called Developmental Psychology)
  • Statistics

You don’t have to have prerequisites completed before you apply for the ABPNN program but rather by the time you start.  We suggest that if you have coursework to do in the last semester before the program begins, choose our online courses that can be completed well before the program start date.  You can be admitted "pending successful completion of XXX," although it does greatly strengthen an application to have the prerequisites completed with good grades.

We offer prerequisites online through Center for Lifelong Learning. If you plan to register for prerequisites at another school, please feel free to email Elaine_Andolina@urmc.rochester.edu to check that the course description is appropriate.  Of special note:  Some schools have a complete Anatomy and Physiology course in one semester, but most schools break it up into two semesters. A one semester A&P course should be AT LEAST 6 semester credit hours.
