Research Assistantship/Teaching Assistantship
Assistantships help to enhance the depth of doctoral education.
- Teaching Assistantships (TA) provide an opportunity to gain experience in teaching undergraduate and master's students in nursing in a university setting.
- Research Assistantships (RA) provide a range of experiences in all aspects of research fundamental to the development of the student's research skills and future research program.
Every full-time and part-time doctoral student is required to engage in teaching or research assistantships as part of their program of study. Assistantships begin with the second semester of the first year of study. This assistantship will ordinarily average 6 hours per week x 15 weeks = 90 hours. Four 90-hour, semester-long assistantships or their equivalent are required for a total of 360 hours of assistantship experience.
