About Us
On behalf of Dean Kathy Parker and the Dean’s Advisory Council for Diversity & Inclusiveness we would like to share with you the 2008-2009 Action Plan for Addressing Diversity Objective.
Goal Objective:
Create a welcoming environment that reflects and values increasing diversity of the faculty, staff and students at the School of Nursing.
This goal is based on the following assumptions:
- Students, staff and faculty are integral and valued members of the SON community.
- A welcoming environment holds the most promise for increasing diversity of students, staff and faculty.
- A diverse community of students, staff and faculty holds the most promise for expanding the range of ideas and perspectives.
Action Plan:
- Serve as a resource and support for individuals and groups within the School of Nursing.
- Facilitate understanding and discussions about diversity.
- Provide non-threatening learning opportunities (some mandatory, some optional) that enhance cultural diversity & inclusiveness.
- Serve as a liaison between the SON and the UR Diversity Initiatives.
